Dear Junior Judo Club member

I hope that you are staying safe and healthy during these challenging times. As I'm sure you know, the rules set out by the Scottish Government and our governing body, Judo Scotland mean that Junior Judo Club's doors must remain closed for the time being. It has been a while since our last update, but please rest assured that we are doing all we can behind the scenes to ensure that when we open up Junior Judo again we can do so in the safest and most fun way.

Visit our Online Dojo
However, I would like to draw your attention to an online dojo which we have created with a student of mine, Gordon McCathie, who runs Ultimate Judo in Aberdeen. The online or 'virtual dojo' is accessible through the Ultimate Judo website at

On the virtual dojo you will find various workouts run by Gordon, together with special sessions with Japanese judoka and British Olympian Nekoda Davis. You will also find some fun challenges and information about the history of Judo. These pages are updated regularly, and we encourage all of our students to get involved and to share photos or videos on our facebook page.

Online Zoom sessions
We have also arranged access for Junior Judo members to Gordon's online Zoom sessions, which run at the following times each week:

Tuesday 1730-1800:
adult judo fit class, run by Gordon and his team using judo-specific movements to gain a sweat and get stronger. Suitable for all adults regardless of fitness level or past experience in judo.
Thursday 1730-1815:
a mixture of judo circuits and technical work for for kids aged 8-15 years, regardless of belt colour. These sessions are fun and challenging, and you can join in training with kids from Aberdeen.
Friday 1730-1815:
same as above but aimed at our younger members aged 4-9 years.
Saturday 1000-1030:
Facebook live session via Ultimate Judo's members-only Ultimate Virtual Dojo Facebook group. This page is for members to interact and share ideas and provide news of upcoming events. Please search for the group in Facebook and click join. Mention that you are a member of Junior Judo club and you will have unrestricted access to the page.
Saturday 1100-1145:
judo session for adults with judo experience.
Saturday 1200-1230:
adult fit (as per Tuesdays session).

As you can see, we have many resources available to help you maintain high fitness levels and continue progression during this lockdown period.

Staying in touch
Access to club computers is currently limited, so could you please send your Junior Judo member's name and your email address to Davina at who will then add you to an e-mailing list for future updates. In the meantime, please keep an eye on our Facebook page and website which will show upcoming events and updates, and also on Judo Scotland's websites for advice on when we can open up once again.

I would like to thank you once again for your support during this regrettable but necessary interruption to our normal operations.
Please stay safe, and I hope to see you again very soon.
